A company that sells styrofoam dome houses was established, and the head office building was planned on land adjacent to the runway of Komatsu Airport in Ishikawa Prefecture. From the beginning, we had decided to make it a dome-shaped building, but after much trial and error, we wanted to create a light structure that resembles an open umbrella. At that time, I researched and found that Shinkansen rails are made by stacking several types of iron, making them a material that is strong and flexible. However, it is not generally distributed, and it took a long time to purchase from Nippon Steel. Since I was a child, I have seen it used for the platform roofs of old stations like Moji Station, but I have never seen a roof designed using railroad rails. Shinkansen rails are exposed on the ceiling of the reception room on the roof floor and the president's office.
